Our Local Table Monadnock taps into a growing "eat-local" movement that is expected to continue into the next decade: According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, local food and food products was a $4 billion business in 2002 and is expected to grow to $7 billion by 2012. 

These trends are gaining steam right here in the Monadnock Region. Lorraine Merrill, Commissioner for NH's Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food, recently noted in an article in her weekly bulletin that the Monadnock Region is "...a hotbed of farm, food and entrepreneurial activity."

Our goal is to support these national and local trends and bring readers up to date information about local farms, food, and growing food in our area.
